Establishing a temporary supervising committee in
September 13, 1997
According to President
Arafat's decision a superior steering committee for
electrical matters was established in Gaza Strip's
governorates in September 13, 1997. All the
responsibilities and authorities of the municipalities
regarding electricity were passed to this committee to
manage and control and collect electricity and this
committee continued working until January 31, 1998,
which was the day GEDCo was established.
The superior committee was entrusted for all electrical
matters and it consisted of the following persons:

Establishing a temporary board of directors in April
5, 1998.
According to President
Arafat's orders of establishing a temporary board of
directors for GEDCo in April 5, 1998 whose president is
the Assistance deputy minister of the local
authority, Mr. Ismael Abu Shammalih and the temporary
board was as follows:

were passed to the temporary bard of directors:

Maintenance of electrical networks and improvement
of distribution after PEA's President's approval.

Establishing the needed laws and policies for
building GEDCo and present them to the board f
ministers through the President of the PEA.

Compose the rules, policies, tariffs, subscription
fees, and collections regarding electricity after
the approval of the board of ministers through the
President of the PEA.
After completing the
procedures of establishing GEDCo in October 31, 1998,
the mission of the temporary board of directors was
over.
Registering the distribution of electrical energy
corporation \ southern governorates in December 20,
1998.
The distribution of
electrical energy corporation was established in
December 31, 1998 for the southern governorates in
December 20, 1998. The board of directors consisted of
the 13 members. 7 members from the Palestinian Authority
and 6 from the local municipalities where the
Palestinian Authority where the Palestinian Authority
owns 51% of the shares and the local municipalities own
49% and the board of directors consisted of the
