GEDCo's Technical Achievements
from August 1998 till 31 December 2010
Regardless of the difficult circumstances that faced the
company like the lack of financial resources, the lack
of electricity supply from Israel and the start of the
Al-Aqsa Intifada, GEDCo management and staff faced all
these difficulties and went forward to supply Gaza Strip
with electricity by constructing hundreds of projects
especially after the Gaza Power Plant started operating.
The projects
implemented
by GEDCo
from August
1998 until
31 December

has been
3,969 projects
as follows:
1. I mplementation
of minor and major projects:
·
GEDCo has implemented 565 of the major projects, which
are projects for the installation of medium voltage
networks (22 K.V) and the installation of distribution
transformers (22 / 0.4 K.V) to feed factories, firms,
institutions, ministries and residence blocks with
electricity.
·
GEDCo also finished 2365 minor projects which included
low voltage networks to feed houses that are away from
the network with electricity.

2.
Develop and increase the
efficiency of the network :
The company has executed
993
projects for the purposes
of the following:
1.
Installation of new transformers to
reduce loads on the existing transformers.
2.
Rehabilitation of old networks and
medium-voltage networks to improve network efficiency
and reduce losses.
3.
Rehabilitation of low-voltage networks
which is old and close to the citizens houses where
un-insulated cables has been changed to isolated ABC
cables , thus removing away the danger the citizens
exposed to , reduce losses and solving the problem of
voltage drop.
4.
Installation of new medium-voltage
networks and transformers in remote areas, which suffer
from the problem of very low voltage.

3.
Energy transportation
projects
The company has implemented 46 projects to transport the
electrical energy from Gaza Power Generation Plant to
the centers of the loads in different governorates.
These projects have been funded by the Norwegian
government and the Ministry of Finance at a cost of $
6,285,399.

4.
Rural electrification
projects :
The company has extended the medium networks voltage
networks ( 22 KV ) , low voltage networks and the
installation of distribution transformers in order to
deliver electricity supply service to rural areas such
as Alfokhari village, Shohada area and Alnasir village ,
the total cost of the projects is 630,000 US$.
